Hitachi Cable, a manufacturer of brake components, will increase production capacity of its plant in Queretaro next year by shifting some of its processes from Thailand to Mexico, revealed to El Financiero Jaime Salinas, supply chain manager.
The manufacturing center, located in the municipality of El Marques, operates three business units: brake connections, assembly of hydraulic hoses and electrical systems for brakes. Its two main customers are Nissan and Honda.
The electrical systems unit is the one that is growing the most because more automakers are adopting this technology, hence the corporate wants Mexico to start supplying the components to North America instead of Thailand.
Hitachi automotive components division operates seven manufacturing facilities in Mexico. Three plants are located in the State of Mexico, three more in Queretaro and another one in Nuevo Leon. However, only the El Marques site is dedicated to electrical systems for brakes.
