In contrast to US companies that move production lines from Mexico to their country, AK Steel considers that it has many opportunities to expand on this side of the border. Roger Newport, CEO of the firm, explained in a meeting with analysts that they found business opportunities in the local market, that they can take advantage of later on. AK Steel Holding Corporation is a steel company based in West Chester Township, Ohio; It arrived in Mexico through acquisitions.  It operates in Mexico with its firm AK Tube LLC, which produces and markets hot-rolled, aluminized and galvanized pipes, among others. In February 2017, the company invested US$10 million to inaugurate its plant in Queretaro, the first in Mexico and outside the US.
