In recent years, Mexico has established itself as the fifth producer of auto parts in the world, with expected annual sales of US$90 billion for 2018, said Oscar Albin Santos, executive president of the National Auto Parts Industry (INA), in recent days.

According to the official, the Mexican auto parts industry consists of approximately 1,300 factories that employ 820,000 people. Of these plants, 35% are constituted with Mexican capital, while 90% of the 880 foreign capital plants are managed by Mexican executives.

During his participation in the Automechanika 2018 event, Albin highlighted that 75% of the auto parts produced in Mexico are destined for the automotive industry in the United States and Canada, while 8% go to the aftermarket.

Based on these figures, Mexico ranks as the fifth producer of auto parts, after China, the United States, Japan and Germany.
