In order to promote Mexico's digital transformation, reduce technological gaps and consolidate Mexico as a global aerospace power, the state of Zacatecas is building the first Space Telecommunications Center in the country. It is expected to start operations in the second half of this year.
According to Secretaría de Comunicaciones y Transportes (SCT), this center will allow to build a new and innovative productive vocation of high added value in terms of space telecommunications (communication between satellites, from space to earth or earth to earth via space) to boost from the SCT the digital transformation of Mexico with the national talent.
Salma Jalife Villalon, undersecretary of Comunicaciones y Desarrollo Tecnológico, said that thanks to the coordinated work between Agencia Espacial Mexicana (AEM), institutions of Zacatecas and Consejo Nacional de Ciencia y Tecnología, innovative systems are being developed for applications in the infrastructure of modern communications networks in Mexico.
Agustín Enciso, director of Consejo Zacatecano de Ciencia, Tecnología e Innovación, stressed that this emblematic project will promote investments in the aerospace and telecommunications sectors.
