KIA Motors builds its 500,000th vehicle in Pesqueria, Nuevo Leon

It took two years and three months of manufacturing operations in Mexico for KIA to achieve production of half a million vehicles in the country, a milestone that met an all-new white KIA Forte, the company said in a statement.

The Korean automaker said it currently produces the Forte and Rio models, as well as the Hyundai Accent, at its assembly plant in Pesqueria, Nuevo Leon, from where the company exports vehicles to more than 70 countries.

The announcement comes one month after the company announced that it managed to sell its 200,000th vehicle in the country, three years after starting commercial operations.

According to data from last July, KIA is already the fifth best-selling brand in the country with a 6.7% market share, above FCA, Honda and Ford.
