KIA Motos México will cease production of the hatchback version of the Forte in its Pesqueria, Nuevo Leon plant, to focus on the production of the Rio, both in sedan and hatchback, and in the revamped version of the Forte, which is currently built only in its sedan version.

According to a report by Notimex that quotes as a source Horacio Chávez, general manager of the South Korean automaker in Mexico, the company plans to launch a hatchback version of the new Forte generation, but it will be imported from South Korea.

The manager stressed that, at the end of 2018, the automaker maintains its expectation of exceeding the production of 300,000 units.

The Notimex report omits the fact that the Hyundai Accent is also produced at the Pesqueria plant, but apparently there are no changes in the manufacturing of said vehicle.
