Mexico as leader in die casting

The Mexican aluminum die-casting industry is solidifying its role as a driving force in advanced manufacturing with the seventh edition of Die Casting Expo Mexico, held in Queretaro. The event will bring together more than 150 exhibiting companies, 3,000 visitors, and at least 50 buyer companies for business meetings, against a backdrop of sustained growth in the sector.

Mexico ranks 7th worldwide in the production of non-ferrous metal castings, with an upward trend over the past 15 years, according to Jose Luis Grajales, CEO and founder of the event; he attributed the country’s position to the technical capabilities of its workforce, the quality of its processes, and the productive integration driven by nearshoring.

The automotive sector alone consumes around one million tons of aluminum annually, destined for export, with an estimated value exceeding US$3.5 billion.

In the context of global production, aluminum accounts for nearly 25% of the weight of a modern automobile, with over 85 million units produced annually. With this, Mexico remains the world’s fifth-largest vehicle producer, with a strong reliance on aluminum components for manufacturing.

The project aims to position Queretaro as an international aluminum hub, making it a key platform for generating business, attracting investment, and integrating production chains in a global environment marked by reshoring and the transition toward more efficient manufacturing.
