ALT Technologies, a Netherlands-based manufacturer of airbag inflator components announced a US$ 3.7-million investment in the state capital of Chihuahua to open a production site.
During a press conference held by state and company officials, CEO Jean Luc Verstraeten said the facility, its first in Mexico, will open on October 15 with 95-strong workforce to start operations.
The company manufactures labels, airbag covers, curtain airbags, wraps and inflator seals. MexicoNow has learned that one of its customers is German auto supplier ZF, whose Occupant Restraints division, dedicated to production of airbag systems, also operates a plant in Chihuahua city.
Industrial real estate developer Fibra Nova, a subsidiary of Grupo Bafar, was designated to build and lease the 62,000-sq.-ft. facility located at the Bafar Technology park that will house ALT Technologies operations.
