Nuevo Leon’s economic activity will fall 11.90% this year: Caintra

NUEVO LEON – The Chamber of the Transformation Industry of Nuevo Leon (Caintra), forecasts that the state's economic activity will fall 11.90% this year, considering that the disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic were accompanied by an impact to the state's economy.

Caintra estimated that the impact on the disruptions caused by the pandemic will be pronounced in 2020 and under that premise three different scenarios are developed: the negative one with an expected recovery in 2024, a base scenario of expected recovery in 2023 and an optimistic one for March 2023.

"If there is a recovery of the economy after the 2009 crisis, the activity in Nuevo Leon could recover until June 2023. If this situation does not occur, and the economy behaves the same as the average recovery would take place until June 2024", the organism emphasized.

There will be many challenges in the economic situation of the entity in the coming years because of the pandemic, Caintra said. That is why it is important that authorities focus efficiently on efforts to make the recovery as agile as possible.Source: El Economista
