Queretaro’s FDI increases

QUERETARO — According to data from the Ministry of Sustainable Development (SEDESU), Querétaro closed 2019 with a record of US$1 billion of foreign direct investment (FDI), representing a growth of 5.5% compared to 2018. In this regard, Marco Antonio Del Prete Tercero, head of the secretariat, reported that the entity continues to work to build trust in entrepreneurs to maintain their investments in the state, as well as to attract new projects that boost the entry of more capital. "As for foreign direct investment, Querétaro is still spearhead," he said; and added that the state occupies the first place in the Bajío region, and is among the sixth or seventh place at the national level in terms of uptake of FDI. The sectors that stand out in FDI in the state are manufacturing industries such as food, plastic and rubber, as well as manufacturers of transport equipment, ranging from the manufacture of parts for motor vehicles to aerospace equipment as well.
