Sheinbaum: PACIC keeps inflation in check

President Claudia Sheinbaum stated that current inflation levels fall within the historical range seen over the past twenty years. However, she emphasized that without the Anti-Inflation and Shortage Package (PACIC), the price of the basic basket of goods covered by this program would be up to 20% higher.
On the other hand, she dismissed the Bank of Mexico’s decision to lower interest rates as a factor contributing to inflationary pressure, noting that the institution has acted responsibly and that the decision aims to encourage investment.
Even though inflation levels are within acceptable limits, Sheinbaum said that further measures will be taken to control the prices of certain basic goods such as tomatoes, onions, and peppers, among others.
She also noted that steps have been taken to prevent price increases for Magna gasoline and that a preliminary agreement has been reached to control the price of diesel.
