The participation of the transport and logistics sector in Mexico lost its strength, during the first 2018 semester, when it came to attracting foreign direct investment (FDI).

Mexico accumulated US$17,842.3 million during the January-June 2018 period, barely 4% belongs to the transport and logistics sector, which amounted to US$708 million, according to the Ministry of Economy.

During the same period of last year, Mexico’s FDI in transport and logistics accumulated US$7,837 million, which amounted to 11.7% in participation within the national economy.

The sector’s decrease in contribution to the Mexican economy stands out, especially, after it reached the total amount of US$3,356 million in 2017.
