INTEVA will invest US$8 million in Matamoros

In a show of confidence in Tamaulipas' economic and industrial climate, automotive company INTEVA announced an investment of US$8 million to expand its plant in Matamoros, a project that will create 500 direct jobs and have a significant impact on the region's economic dynamism.
The announcement was made at an event led by Ninfa Cantú Deándar, state secretary of economy; Alberto Granados, mayor of Matamoros; Francisco González Díaz, president of the National Auto Parts Industry (INA); Armando Botti, director of operations at INTEVA; and César Treviño, executive president of the State Council for Economic Development and Competitiveness.
During her speech, Secretary Cantú Deándar highlighted that this investment represents a vote of confidence in Matamoros' productive potential and local talent.
“This project confirms INTEVA's commitment to the development of our region and demonstrates that Tamaulipas continues to be an attractive destination for global industry,” she said.
She also emphasized that the business decision reflects the environment of stability and openness to investment promoted by the state government under the administration of Governor Américo Villarreal Anaya.
For his part, Matamoros Mayor Alberto Granados emphasized that INTEVA's expansion is the result of coordinated work between different levels of government and the private sector.
“This project exemplifies how collaboration between authorities and business leaders generates employment and development opportunities for our communities,” he said.
Armando Botti, INTEVA's director of operations, reiterated the company's social and economic commitment to Matamoros, where it has been operating since 2008. He explained that the expansion will allow the company to consolidate its position as a global supplier of automotive components and systems, strengthening its presence in the international supply chain.
Francisco González Díaz, president of the INA, highlighted Tamaulipas' growing role in the national automotive sector and recognized the region's strategic potential to attract new investments.
“The north of the country is establishing itself as a key hub for the growth of the auto parts industry, and Matamoros is a clear example of this,” he said.
During the event, emphasis was also placed on the progress made by the Tamaulipas government in forming the state's Automotive Cluster, an initiative that seeks to integrate companies, educational institutions, and authorities to strengthen value chains, promote innovation, and position the state as a hub of industrial competitiveness on Mexico's northern border.
INTEVA's expansion aligns with this strategic vision, while reinforcing investor confidence in the state's economic direction and opening up new development prospects for thousands of Tamaulipas families.
The automotive industry in Tamaulipas is an important sector, with a strong presence of companies dedicated to the manufacture of auto parts and vehicle assembly.
The state stands out for its leadership in the demand for industrial space for this sector, especially in Reynosa, where it represents a significant part of economic activity.
In addition, Tamaulipas is a key state in the financing of new vehicles, which drives sales and provides relief to automotive dealerships.
