Avantti Medi Clear Expands with New E-Beam Facility in Tijuana

Mexican company Avantti Medi Clear celebrated the inauguration of its second sterilization plant using E-Beam technology in Tijuana, Baja California, further consolidating its leadership in the medical device and industrial sterilization sector in Mexico.
The new facility represents an investment exceeding US$12.5 million and aims to strengthen the regional medical cluster, while also promoting the creation of technical and specialized jobs that contribute to the economic development of northwestern Mexico.
The opening ceremony brought together representatives from the industrial sector, state and municipal authorities, as well as business organizations involved in technological innovation and advanced manufacturing.
Representing Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda, Kurt Honold Morales, Secretary of Economy and Innovation, emphasized the significance of the medical sector for Baja California’s economy, highlighting its ability to attract foreign investment and generate high-value employment opportunities.
The event was led by Fernando Luna, CEO of Avantti Medi Clear, and Eduardo Luna Arenas, Chairman of the Board of Directors. They were joined by Miguel Ángel Félix, from the Baja California Medical Device Cluster; Adriana Eguía Alanís, Executive Director of DEITAC; René Paredes Ballesca, from Index Zona Costa; and Fernanda Mena, representing the Tijuana Economic Development Secretariat. All participants underscored the sustained growth of Avantti Medi Clear, its long-term vision, and its commitment to innovation, safety, and sustainability in sterilization processes.
The new plant covers a total area of 6,200 square meters, with 4,500 square meters dedicated to storage and logistics operations. It is equipped with a 10 MeV, 30 kW linear accelerator, with expansion capability up to 50 kW, allowing the facility to scale its operations in line with increasing demand.
Additionally, it features an irradiation bunker with walls up to 3.5 meters thick, designed according to safety standards set by Mexico’s National Commission for Nuclear Safety and Safeguards (CNSNS), ensuring the highest levels of protection for both personnel and infrastructure.
More than 20 suppliers participated in the plant’s construction, most of them local companies, along with the Canadian firm MEVEX, which was responsible for designing and supplying the main accelerator.
Through this expansion, Avantti Medi Clear generated over 50 direct and indirect jobs, strengthening the regional supply chain under Just-in-Time production models commonly used in Baja California’s medical industry.
While the company’s main focus remains on the medical sector, Avantti Medi Clear also plans to provide services to the aerospace, electrical, and food industries, leveraging the versatility of E-Beam technology, which can be applied to sterilization, pasteurization, and polymer material modification processes.
The company’s leadership emphasized that this new facility not only expands its production capacity but also represents “a decisive step toward technological innovation, international competitiveness, and the strengthening of national industry.” With this milestone, Avantti Medi Clear reaffirms Mexico’s position as a global reference in advanced manufacturing and technology applied to health.
