Sonora exceeds US$28 billion in exports

In 2025, Sonora reached the highest level of exports in its history, totaling US$28.61 billion—a figure driven by growth in advanced manufacturing and industrial development linked to the “Sonora Sustainable Energy Plan.” This result positioned the state as one of the most dynamic economies along Mexico’s northern border.
Export growth also reflected the expansion of the manufacturing industry in the state. While manufacturing exports reached US$15.02 billion in 2021, by 2025 the figure had risen to US$22.98 billion, consolidating Sonora as one of the country’s leading industrial hubs.
It also demonstrates the strengthening of industrial supply chains linked to corporate relocation and nearshoring in Mexico. The expansion of the technology and manufacturing sectors has enabled Sonora to increase its share of high-value-added exports to North America.
Among the fastest-growing industries are those related to advanced manufacturing, automotive production, aerospace components, electronics, and computing—activities that form part of the priority sectors promoted by the “Sonora Plan” to attract investment and accelerate the industrialization process.
