Aguascalientes fosters talent in semiconductor industry

The 2nd National Semiconductor Conference, led by Aguascalientes Governor Tere Jimenez, was attended by executives and faculty from the National Technological Institute of Mexico (TecNM), as well as representatives from the public, private, and industrial sectors.

The meeting aimed to strengthen strategies to facilitate students’ entry into the North American labor market, in a context where sectors such as automotive, technology, and electromobility demand highly specialized professionals.

Tere Jimenez oversaw construction of the new National Laboratory for Semiconductors and Advanced Electromobility at the Technological Institute of Aguascalientes (ITA), a project aimed at positioning the institution as a national leader in technological education.

The infrastructure will benefit more than 6,300 ITA students, who will have access to specialized technology and equipment for internships, research, and innovation projects related to microelectronics, electronic design, and advanced processing.

During the event, officials were introduced to various projects developed by ITA students and alumni, including the SIMON 64/128 system, created by alumnus Uriel Jaramillo, which consists of a data encryption chip designed to strengthen information security.
