Pfizer will have new vaccine projects at its Toluca plant.

Pfizer has new projects in the works involving the development and production of vaccines, which will take place at its plant in Toluca, State of Mexico. These new projects aim to increase the plant’s capacity for vaccine development and manufacturing, with the goal of strengthening its presence in the State of Mexico’s pharmaceutical industry.

Pfizer's plant in Toluca manufactures oncology drugs, antivirals, anti-inflammatory drugs, and other products. It is therefore not surprising that 70% of its production is destined for the Mexican market, while the remaining 30% is exported to countries in Latin America.

Pfizer's announcement is part of a series of projects aimed at increasing the presence of domestic and foreign pharmaceutical companies in the State of Mexico. In fact, over the past nearly three years, companies in the sector have made investments totaling more than US$206 million.

Pfizer and its vaccine production project add a new line of collaborative activity with highly specialized capabilities in the biopharmaceutical industry, incorporating new development and production processes that require infrastructure, specialized talent, and technical controls.

Consequently, the state government views these operational expansions as contributions to the State of Mexico in the areas of pharmaceutical production and the export of products to Latin American markets.
