Safran Opens SAESA 2 in Querétaro.

The French company SAFRAN inaugurated the SAESA Shop 2 MRO facility and the LEAP engine test cell in Querétaro, cementing Mexico’s position as a strategic aerospace hub for the Americas within SAFRAN Aircraft Engines’ global MRO network.

SAFRAN Aircraft Engine Services Americas Shop 2 is a project representing an investment of US$140 million, in addition to creating nearly 500 new, highly specialized direct jobs. The complex covers 50,000 square meters and includes two maintenance shops for CFM56 and LEAP engines, a test cell, and a component repair facility.

During the opening ceremony, the governor of Querétaro, Mauricio Kuri González, was in attendance and presided over the event. The governor shared a message in which he emphasized how proud and grateful he was for the company’s confidence in pursuing this new investment in Querétaro. He also highlighted that SAFRAN is a strategic pillar for the development of the region’s aerospace ecosystem, bringing prestige, competitiveness, and international visibility.

“We have one of the world’s largest maintenance centers for this major company—it’s easy to say, but it’s thanks to the talent here in Querétaro, (…) the testing center, and these 450 new jobs (…) and, from the bottom of my heart, you must keep working, because in Querétaro we know that business, academia, and the government are partners,” he said.

For his part, SAFRAN CEO Olivier Andriès stated that the new center will shape the future of the industry, which is also a key step in strengthening the global MRO network for aircraft engines, supported by other global investments.

The executive also noted that the facility will help meet the growing needs of airline customers around the world. More than 4,000 people work at the Querétaro facility, where maintenance will be performed on engines for customers throughout the Americas.
