Volvo Buses manufactures the first Volvo 9800 in Tultitlán

Volvo Buses Mexico has delivered the “Omnibus de Mexico,” the first unit of the new Volvo 9800, produced in Tultitlan, State of Mexico. The Mexican plant's manufacturing capabilities for producing buses intended for the export market have been highlighted.

The symbolic handover is part of a new chapter in the relationship between the two companies. The local manufacturing of these high-end passenger vehicles has an impact on the supply chain. Benjamín Galván, Director of Operations at Ómnibus de México, noted that bus production has created jobs and had an impact on direct and indirect suppliers, as well as on the transportation companies themselves, all of which make up the value chain surrounding the new Volvo 9800.

The model is equipped with a Volvo 813R engine, offering a 4% reduction in fuel consumption. It features a lighter, more stable suspension, measures up to 15 meters in length, and is 650 kilograms lighter, without compromising on sturdiness, safety, durability, or comfort. It also includes improved aerodynamics and a driver-assistance system.
