Querétaro Seeks Greater Aerospace Value
Marco Antonio Del Prete, head of the Querétaro Secretariat of Sustainable Development (SEDESU), chaired a regular meeting of members of the Mexican Federation of the Aerospace Industry (FEMIA).
The official highlighted the development of the aerospace industry as a prime example of Querétaro’s potential when stakeholders work together.
“What began with the arrival of major companies has evolved into an ecosystem encompassing manufacturing, engineering, maintenance, research, and talent development,” he said.
Del Prete emphasized that the state’s strength lies not only in attracting aerospace companies but also in developing the ecosystem that supports them, including universities, research centers, specialized suppliers, infrastructure, and a skilled workforce.
He noted that Querétaro recognizes that competing globally requires quality, certainty, talent, and the right conditions to foster continued innovation. In this regard, collaboration with FEMIA and the Querétaro Aerospace Cluster is essential, as it provides a platform for businesses, academia, and public institutions to identify needs, anticipate changes, and develop joint solutions.
“The next step for Mexico’s aerospace industry cannot simply be to attract more investment; we must increase the share of value generated by that investment that remains in the country. This means developing domestic suppliers, strengthening engineering capabilities, integrating more Mexican companies into supply chains, and building on the experience we have already accumulated,” Del Prete said.
The meeting was attended by FEMIA executives Luis Manuel Azúa and Luis Lizcano; Gustavo Alonso Cabrera, head of the aerospace sector at the Ministry of Economy; Disraelí Gómez, director of FAMEX; Jatziri Barrios, president of the Querétaro Aerospace Cluster; and Enrique Sosa, president of the Aeronautical University of Querétaro.
