Land exports in Juarez decrease
CIUDAD JUAREZ – Ciudad Juarez exported a total of US$5.2 billion to the United States by land in the penultimate month of 2019.
According to data from the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI), the above means 0.51% more compared to the same period of the previous year, when the shipment of products to the U.S. totaled US$5.2 billion, equivalent of US$27,003 less.
The INEGI data shows that although the 2019 figure is higher than that of 2018, the pace of exports during the past year was not as accelerated as the one from 2017.
José Castañón, who is in charge of foreign trade in the National Chamber of the Transformation Industry (Canacintra) in Juarez, said that this is because the tariffs imposed by the United States to several countries during 2018 impacted the exports of some nations, including Mexico.
Castañón added that Mexico became a U.S. commercial ally and proof of this is the dynamism that continued during 2019.
