Chihuahua signs collaboration agreement with New Mexico State University

CHIHUAHUA - With the objective of coordinating actions for innovation and technology transfer, the Chihuahua State Government and New Mexico State University (NMSU) signed a collaboration agreement to lay the groundwork for technical support of academic and research personnel.

The agreement will make it possible to work on research and productivity projects for the agricultural and agri-food sector, and will accelerate the implementation of value-added practices for the benefit of the state's producers.

The signing was led by the Secretary of Rural Development of Chihuahua (SDR), Mauro Parada Muñoz; Monica Torres, interim president of NMSU and Rolando Flores Galarza, dean and director of the Faculty of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences of the university.

During the ceremony, they expressed their gratitude for the interest in promoting among the scientific community the exchange of first world practices with the people of Chihuahua.

Ulises Fernández Gamboa, Chihuahua's Secretary of Innovation and Economic Development, highlighted the importance of this collaboration, which will bear fruit in technological exchange missions through courses and workshops.

As part of the event, the strategic economic programs and projects to be implemented in conjunction with the Regional Economic Development Councils (Coder's) were presented to promote balanced development in the state.

Also presented were the programs focused on the development of talent, which are carried out with universities and institutions abroad.

These programs include scholarships, internationalization programs, teacher development, support for science, technology and research, and training to strengthen vocations in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).
