COMCE examines use of AI in logistics operations

During the board meeting of the Northeast Chapter of the Mexican Business Council for Foreign Trade, Investment, and Technology (COMCE), Angeles Vela, director of the Digital Technologies Innovation Cluster, presented a talk titled “Opportunities and Challenges of AI in Foreign Trade,” in which she noted that the global environment is no longer defined solely by treaties, but also by the use of data, algorithms, and automation.
Artificial Intelligence already makes it possible to reduce waiting times, optimize container management, and automate key processes at ports and customs; its implementation is also advancing in technical functions—such as tariff classification and the preparation of customs declarations—where it helps reduce errors and increase operational efficiency.
Competitiveness in foreign trade no longer depends solely on trade agreements or geographic location, but on the ability to integrate advanced technologies into the supply chain; this is why digitization and the strategic use of data are critical factors for sustaining and scaling operations.
COMCE Noreste promotes these types of discussions to bring the industry closer to trends that are redefining foreign trade operations.
