Manufacturing employment, the highest in seven years

404,459 jobs were created during the first quarter of 2017, where 43% are positions in the transformation industry, which is the highest level for such a time period, since 2010. According to data from the IMSS (Mexican Social Security Institute), the transformation industry contributed the most jobs during April towards the total number of jobs for the January-April 2017 period, with 173,348 jobs, 50,643 jobs more than the first quarter of 2016. The States with the most jobs created were Baja California, Coahuila, Chihuahua, Nuevo Leon, Guanajuato, Jalisco and Queretaro.
