Germany-based corporation MD Elektronik opened its first manufacturing site in Mexico at the Colinas industrial park, in Leon, Guanajuato, with a US$20 million investment, expecting to generate 400 jobs.

This firm is dedicated to assembling automotive cables for data transmission and it will supply electronic components to clients in the Bajio region and the U.S. Automakers like BMW, Volkswagen and Mercedes Benz, among others are included in its customers portfolio.

The plant will have a production capacity of 10 million pieces per year and it currently employs 170 collaborators. Among the main factors that influenced the German corporate to decide to install a plant in Mexico and to choose Guanajuato as a destination were its geographical location, quality of life connectivity as well as the availability of local talent, said CEO Robert Hofman at the opening ceremony.
