Yanfeng invests US$36 million in Queretaro to support Mercedes Benz A Class program

Chinese automotive supplier Yanfeng announced that, after a US$36 million investment, its Queretaro plant is ready to support Mercedes Benz's MFA2 V177 production program, which is the code name for the A Class sedan that the German automaker will begin producing in the coming weeks at its new plant in Aguascalientes, Central Mexico.

The project consists of an initial production of around 4,000 instrument panels per month, a figure that will double in 2019, El Financiero reported.

Additionally, Yanfeng added that, by July 2019, it plans to start supporting yet another Mercedes Benz program known as the X247, for which it will also provide similar components, only this time it will be for a crossover. This data matches unofficial reports that Mercedes Benz will also build a compact utility vehicle at its Mexican plant.

Yanfeng also announced that next year it will participate in the G20 program of the BMW 3 Series sedan, which will be built at the new San Luis Potosi plant and for which it will manufacture the four-door panels.
