Plastic Omnium to sale its truck supplying business; one Mexican plant included

Mutares AG made a binding offer to acquire the truck supplying business of the Plastic Omnium Group. creating a world leading truck supplier for cabin components with a total turnover of approximately US$ 425 million and 2,700 employees in 15 plants.
The truck supplying business of the Plastic Omnium Group consists of nine plants, five in France, two in China, one plant in Germany and one in Ramos Arizpe, Mexico with more than 1,500 employees in total.Â
In 2015, the plants generated a turnover of US$ 202 million with exterior components and modules for truck cabins. All major European truck manufacturers belong to its customer base. The plants are located in direct proximity to its customers.
Combined with STS and the recent acquisition of the two plants of the Mecaplast Group, Mutares creates a global truck supplier for cabin components with a total turnover of approximately US$ 425 million and 2,700 employees in 15 plants.Â
The new group will have locations in France, Italy, Germany, Poland, China and Mexico. The products complement each other and allow a variety of synergies and cross-selling opportunities.
The binding offer is being studied by Plastic Omnium. In accordance with the French law, the offer is submitted to the works council for their position.
