Wordl2Fly announces new route from Madrid to Cancun

CANCUN – The Quintana Roo Tourism Board (CPTQ) announced the opening of two new air routes from the cities of Madrid and Lisbon to Cancun, operated by the Spanish long-haul airline Wordl2Fly.

"We are very pleased with the arrival of this new airline that will strengthen air connectivity with Europe, from Spain and Portugal”, commented CPTQ's general director, Dario Flota Ocampo.

The flight from Madrid will have two frequencies per week with an Airbus A350 with capacity for 432 passengers, and the flight from Lisbon to Cancun will arrive once a week with an A 330 for 388 passengers.

It was reported that between the two flights, for the remainder of the year alone, the company will offer for sale more than 28,500 airline seats to the Mexican Caribbean.

Until 2019, 42% of the Spanish passengers that arrived in Mexico visited Quintana Roo; in 2020 in the face of the pandemic, this number was affected, however, out of 100,028 travelers that arrived in Mexico, 23,432 visited Quintana Roo.
