Mexico has an open possibility in the energy sector to hire private companies for activities of transmission and distribution, which are still reserved for the State. New players have appeared, such as providers and merchants that will help the new electric market work in a better way. As a result of long-term electric tenders, the Mexican Electric Commission (CFE) has been able to establish historically low prices for its basic supply needs, thanks to the promotion of renewable energies (wind and photovoltaic), which is helping toward the goal of having 35% of the electricity come from clean sources by 2024.
