Siemens to modernize its plant in Querétaro

Siemens announced an investment in Querétaro to modernize the medium-voltage product plant in Balvanera, in the municipality of Corregidora.
This project is part of the plan to modernize its operations in the state, specifically for the electrification and automation division. The modernization project includes renovating buildings and machinery, as well as the digitization and automation of processes, and increasing capacity in the prefabrication area through the acquisition of equipment for painting, bending, and punching, the company reported in a press release.
For the German company, this unit is one of its strategic pillars in Mexico. In addition, it is a production center with almost four decades of continuous operation.
In Querétaro, in 2024, it inaugurated the Greenfield project in the Kaizen Industrial Park in Colón (announced in November 2023) and began optimization operations at the Balvanera plant. At the time, these projects represented an investment of US$58.2 million.
The company specified that the modernization it will carry out at the Balvanera plant—plus the investment it made in Kaizen—amounts to US$100 million, i.e., US$41 million more than announced in November 2023.
The Balvanera factory began operations in 1987; the main manufacturing processes are prefabrication (punching, welding, painting), assembly (electrical assembly and mechanical assembly), testing (primary inspection and control testing), and release (packaging and shipping), according to information provided by the company.
