Auto Parts Production Is on the Rise in Querétaro.
The Bajío region has recently produced a variety of auto parts worth US$19 billion posting a notable 9.2% year-over-year growth rate.
Meanwhile, the value of domestic auto parts production has reached US$4,228 at the start of the fiscal year and has grown by 11.8% compared to the same period last year, according to data from the National Auto Parts Industry Registry (INA).
Querétaro has posted the fifth-highest annual growth rate, ranking among the top 10 producing states during a period in which five states achieved double-digit growth.
Based on cumulative figures, Querétaro remained the fifth-largest producer, accounting for 8% of Mexico’s auto parts production. The top spots are held by Coahuila, Guanajuato, Nuevo León, and Chihuahua, which together accounted for 87% of national production.
The Bajío region, which is part of Querétaro, has produced various auto parts with a value of US$19,009 million, representing a 9.2% year-over-year increase. It is also the second-largest contributor to the industry, accounting for 35.9% of the national total, surpassed only by the northern region, which leads the chart with a 44.1% share. In third place is the central region, which accounts for 14.9% of the total; it is the area that has shown the greatest annual growth, followed by the Bajío and the north.
Querétaro is one of the producing states that outpaced the industry’s national growth, with a value of US$52, 8 billion at the start of the year, representing a 10% increase. However, the country’s cumulative value is 0.4% below that of previous periods, such as the industry’s record year of 2024.
The INA has noted that during the first five months of the year, the country’s auto parts industry has remained on a positive trajectory, posting a 6.9% increase in May. The most commonly produced auto parts include electrical components, transmissions and clutches, fabrics, carpets, and seats, engine parts, and others.
The performance of the Mexican industry is linked to the U.S. automotive market, driven by the interconnection of supply chains. In Querétaro, there are approximately 300 companies linked to the automotive industry, most of which are Tier 2 and Tier 1 suppliers, as well as original equipment manufacturers and research and development centers, among other entities. The industry accounts for approximately 80,000 jobs in the state.
