Nuevo León Increases Automotive Exports by 6.6%

Nuevo León has recorded a 6.6% increase in vehicle exports during the current period, shipping 153,661 units abroad, according to data from the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi), as announced by the state government.

It was also noted that growth was driven primarily by light vehicles, whose exports rose 10.3%, from 122,407 units in the previous period to 134,986 units in the current period. Nuevo León produced 199,854 vehicles, a 6.5% increase compared to the same period last year, while production in the current period has reached 25,914 units, 23.8% more than before.

The state Secretary of Economy, Betsabé Rocha, emphasized that the results demonstrate the industry’s ability to continue growing, as well as its competitiveness in international markets. She added that the technological transformation of the industry has opened up new opportunities to strengthen the state’s position within the automotive sector and move toward electromobility.

According to state authorities, these results come on the heels of KIA Mexico’s recent announcement regarding the production of its new electric vehicle at the Pesquería plant, further strengthening Nuevo León’s presence in this segment.
