Jalisco to Develop Local Suppliers for the Semiconductor Industry

In an effort to integrate talent from Jalisco and local companies into the semiconductor industry's supply chain, the Jalisco Ministry of Economic Development has launched a project called “Circuito 14.”

This project aims to serve as a platform for the creation and professional development of supplier companies in the sector and will focus on areas such as chip design, specialized software, applied artificial intelligence, and embedded systems. This call for applications is open to engineers, researchers, professionals in the technology industry, and graduate students throughout the country.

“Today we are essentially announcing that—the launch of Circuito 14, a platform with three main objectives... to develop these new suppliers for the semiconductor design industry, to build a portfolio of startups with tremendous potential, and to create a virtuous cycle of opportunities for entrepreneurs,” the official said.

The initiative would represent a strategic opportunity for Jalisco, as it would foster a new generation of local suppliers capable of meeting the demand for advanced services from global companies based in the state, thereby strengthening the supply chain, leveraging specialized talent, and creating high-value jobs.

One of the most important aspects of the project is that the program will enable cost savings on operating licenses for those who lack the resources to start a new semiconductor company.

The platform is sponsored by Sedeco and operated by the Carabela VC investment fund, with a model that includes seminars, mentoring, and specialized support for developing companies with advanced capabilities in integrated circuit design and testing services.
