President Claudia Sheinbaum discusses AIFA and Mexicana de Aviación

In the second Government Report for 2025–2026, President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo reported on the performance of Felipe Angéles International Airport (AIFA) and Mexicana de Aviación.

The president noted that the terminal in Santa Lucía had transported 3.6 million passengers during the first half of the year.

Meanwhile, the state-owned airline reported a total of one million passengers; according to the president, that number is expected to triple with the addition of 14 more aircraft.

Currently, the carrier has eight aircraft: three Embraer E190-E2s and five E195-E2s. According to the delivery schedule, it is expected to receive four more models from the same family this year, with the remaining eight of the 20-aircraft order scheduled for delivery in 2027.

Sheinbaum Pardo shared information about the Felipe Ángeles train, which opened in late April, noting its strong performance since then.

“The train’s Lechería-AIFA section has established itself as a modern transportation option for nearly 3 million residents, in addition to providing quick access to Felipe Ángeles International Airport,” she said.

The mayor also discussed progress on the maintenance, expansion, and modernization of 11 international airports, including the renovation of Mexico City International Airport (AICM) and the terminals in Puerto Escondido and Tepic.
