Carlos Slim Expresses His Pride in América Móvil
America Móvil is a multinational telecommunications company that is “[...] proudly Mexican and a global leader,” stated Carlos Slim Domit, chairman of the board of directors of that economic group, highlighting the transformation and international scale achieved by the company.
During his appearance at the Mexico Siglo XXI event, Slim Domit detailed America Movil’s telecommunications infrastructure, which today spans land via fiber optics, data centers, and cloud services; the air via 5G mobile networks; the oceans via submarine cables; and space via geostationary satellites.
The figures reported by América Móvil provide a sense of the scale of some of the infrastructure referred to by Domit Slim.
In fact, as of the end of 2025, the group reported more than 1.5 million kilometers of fiber-optic cable and 121,100 cell sites distributed across its various operations.
The first infrastructure supports a large part of its fixed-line and data transmission services, while cellular sites enable the deployment of the equipment that powers its social media platforms.
Slim Domit attributes America Movil's current scale to the transformation that began with Telmex—from a local telephone company to an international telecommunications and connectivity group.
The business leader also highlighted the investments made to develop infrastructure and upgrade technology, as well as the training and innovation initiatives implemented during that period of growth.
