Google to set up a data center region in Querétaro

QUERETARO - Google Cloud will install a data center region in Querétaro, the first nationwide and the third in Latin America.

This investment is in addition to the projects to be operated in the state by the technology giants Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft, announced Governor Mauricio Kuri González, after holding a meeting with Google executives.

"The new Google unit will serve the Mexican market, but will also have coverage for Latin America; it is expected to begin operations in 2025," confirmed the Secretary of Sustainable Development (Sedesu), Marco Antonio Del Prete Tercero.

The location and the amount of the investment, he said, is kept confidential for reasons of the company's competitiveness.

The confirmation of the project solidifies Querétaro's position as a benchmark in the attraction of data centers, in addition to forging it as a strategic destination in this industry, added the head of Sedesu.

The region that Google will install in Querétaro will be the third in Latin America, preceded by the units in Santiago de Chile and São Paulo, Brazil.
