Japanese manufacturer Ashimori opens its second plant in Guanajuato

Ashimori Industry Co. Ltd., a Japanese manufacturer of automotive safety systems, opened its second plant in Mexico this week in the Guanajuato Puerto Interior zone, near Silao, Guanajuato.

The company opened its first facility in Mexico in the end of 2012 with a US$ 10.2 million investment and the opening of 190 job positions to manufacture seat belts, airbags and interior parts for Mazda, Honda and Nissan. With the second plant the overall investment in the country has grown to US$ 17.5 million with more than 415 jobs created, while the production output has tripled. 

According to Ashimori CEO, Saburo Seno, who attended the ribbon cutting ceremony, the new facility is already fully operational with a monthly production capacity of 76,000 components for security systems and 80,000 interior parts.
