UNAQ ranks Mexico among the top 10 in aerospace competition

The Aeronautical University of Queretaro (UNAQ) solidified its international presence in the aerospace sector after the Ka’anSat team placed ninth worldwide in the 2026 CanSat Competition, one of the most prestigious student competitions in the global space industry.
The 2026 edition brought together more than 81 teams from countries such as the United States, Germany, the United Kingdom, Italy, Turkey, India, Indonesia, and Saudi Arabia. After a rigorous technical evaluation process, only 36 teams advanced to the final launch phase, including the Mexican team from UNAQ.
Key challenges of the competition included autonomous navigation, real-time telemetry transmission, and the execution of simulated precision deliveries—activities that replicate processes used in aerospace and satellite missions.
The result achieved by Ka’anSat reflects the technical preparedness of UNAQ students, who applied specialized knowledge in design, manufacturing, programming, electronics, and aerospace systems under standards comparable to those used by the international space industry.
With this achievement, the members of Ka’anSat demonstrated that Mexican talent can compete at the highest international level and contribute to strengthening an industry that continues to gain relevance for the country’s innovation, technology, and economic development.
