CloudHQ Expands Querétaro Data Center Project

CloudHQ plans to increase its investment in Querétaro from US$4.8 billion to nearly US$6 billion to expand the power capacity of its data center campus, one of the country's major digital infrastructure projects.

Executives from the U.S.-based company met with Querétaro Governor Mauricio Kuri to discuss the project's progress, including the construction of a campus comprising six buildings dedicated to data center operations.

As part of the expansion, CloudHQ plans to increase its projected power capacity from approximately 250 MW to nearly 1,000 MW, using resources managed directly by the company.

The increase is expected to strengthen the electrical infrastructure required to support the complex's operations and ensure service continuity.

The company reaffirmed its commitment to investing in Querétaro, highlighting the certainty the state offers for the development of large-scale projects. Its executives also reported that construction is progressing according to schedule and updated state authorities on the status of the different project phases.

The QRO Campus will be located near Querétaro International Airport and is designed to accommodate six buildings, each with an IT load capacity of 48 MW, bringing the total projected IT load to 288 MW.

The facility will also feature an on-site electrical substation and a connection to a 400-kilovolt (kV) transmission line to meet the data center's power requirements.

Querétaro's strategic location between the United States and Central America, combined with the region's growing technological infrastructure, has strengthened its appeal as a destination for this type of investment.

CloudHQ's presence in the state will expand available digital infrastructure to meet customer demand and support the growth of their digital operations.
